Timeline

Headquartered in Ahmedabad, GCA has grown so far since its inception in the year 1934. Established with the aim to keep the spirit of gentleman’s game alive, GCA is thriving to be one of the best facilitator for the same. It was in the year 1950 that GCA was the accredited for best finish at National Level by being the Runners up in Ranji Trophy.

GCA witnessed a momentous change in the year 2009 when the now Prime Minister and then Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri. Narendra Modi took the reins into his hands. He was confident over the talents in Gujarat and knew that only the lack of professionalism is holding the state back. He promoted cricket in the state and encouraged professionals and guest players to play for Gujarat. The very renowned 2011 ICC World Cup quarterfinal was played in the GCA stadium.

It resulted from efforts from the management, higher authorities, and team that GCA blossomed in the world of cricket. Under the leadership of Parthiv Patel, the team won Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 and Vijay Hazare 50-overs trophy in the year 2014-15. The Year 2016 was remarkable in the history of GCA because it won the prestigious Ranji Trophy at the expense of 41 times champion Mumbai.

Mr. Amit Shah took over the charge as the president of GCA in the year 2014 when Shri Narendra Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India. Till date, Mr. Shah is heading GCA with full of his endeavors to make it one of the best cricket associations in India.
