
About GCA
Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is the governing body for the development and organisation of cricket in Gujarat state with 10 districts and a union territory under its wing which comprises of Ahmedabad, Kheda, Anand, Bharuch, Surat, Valsad (Bulsar), Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, Panchmahals, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli. GCA is a permanent member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Just like any other part of the country, the people of Gujarat were introduced to cricket by the British. It was in the year 1934 when Gujarat got its first governing body with the name Gujarat Cricket Association for cricket activities in the state. Soon after, the Association got affiliated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Under the association’s accreditation, Gujarat became the first runner up in the 1950-51 Ranji Trophy.
In the year 1982, the government of Gujarat donated 100 acres of land near the Sabarmati River for the construction of the World’s Largest Stadium, Ahmedabad, the home ground for Gujarat Cricket Association located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Several memorable tests and one-day internationals have been played in the stadium so far including ICC Champions Trophy and ICC World Cup.


It was in the year 2014-15 that under the captainship of Parthiv Patel, the GCA team won the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 and Vijay Hazare 50-overs trophy. GCA team won the prestigious Ranji Trophy at the expense of 41 times champion Mumbai in the year 2016.
Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) takes pride in realising the dream of its former President and the current Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, to build Narendra Modi Stadium. After Shri Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, Shri Amit Shah took over as President of GCA. Under the leadership of Shri Amit Shah, GCA Vice President Shri Parimal Nathwani and GCA Joint Secretary Shri Jay Shah put the dream into execution and made it into reality by building the new Narendra Modi Stadium project with seating capacity of 110,000 spectators.
GCA has focused on taking the game to mofussil areas of the state for grassroots level development and to assist and support budding players. GCA has grown from strength to strength and is today one of the best-organised and most modern state level cricket association in the country.
